Nov 11, 2024 · Hello everyone. I purchased my house about a year ago that has an existing chimney/stove pipe system but does not currently have a wood stove hooked up to it. To get the proper draft for the stove I am purchasing (Kuma Aspen LE), I need to extend my stove pipe further than it currently protrudes from my chimney.

Nov 12, 2024 · The stove needs a flue area of about 28 sq in. If the stove is connected to a 6.5" x 12.5" ID flue, that is almost a 3x increase to 81.5 sq in. This is strongly recommended against because it will slow down and cool the exhaust gases from the stove. This can result in weak draft, a cranky stove, hard starts, etc.

Nov 12, 2024 · Whether you go electronic or with the dial, I think a stove pipe probe gives you a lot more valuable info than knowing the stove top temperature, unless you are trying to place you Ecofan in the ideal location. Then, use the IR gun as someone else suggested. An IR gun is a great tool to have. I got one at Harbor Freight and it works just fine.

I am uncertain whether I need an adapter 1. to connect the stove with my telescoping DVL piece and 2. to connect the telescoping DVL to the ceiling support box. If so, which ones. Thank you!

Nov 3, 2024 · So I take the stove apart and put in a new igniter (the old igniter shows no outward signs of problems when removed). Now the stove starts and runs normally for a few days. Then this morning, the stove starts and ignites the pellets but a short while later the stove has a problem and causes another Smoke Out.
Wood stove within (not in front of) existing fireplace?
Oct 10, 2024 · We have an existing masonry fireplace which we'd like to refit with a woodburning stove or insert. There are several inserts that fit the bill, but my wife and I both prefer the look of a freestanding stove. That said, we'd want the freestanding stove to actually sit inside (or mostly inside) the existing firebox, which is 40" W, 28" H, and 22" D.

Nov 3, 2024 · Double wall stovepipe has an air gap between the two layers. Definitely better than single as it keeps the pipe warmer helping draft and reducing creosote buildup. Stove distance to combustibles is per the stove manufacturer specifications and yes, typically there are reduced clearances if proper wall protection is installed.
