A volunteer pilot known for helping transport rescue animals to shelters died in a plane crash in the Catskill Mountains in New York on Sunday while transporting three dogs to a no-kill shelter.

Seuk Kim was flying three dogs from Maryland to Albany, New York, when the plane crashed in the snowy woods of the Catskill Mountains, officials said.

Animal rescue groups across the country, including one in Fayette County, are mourning 49-year-old Seuk Kim, a beloved volunteer with Pilots N Paws who died in a plane crash while rescuing dogs.

Authorities say a pilot and a rescue dog he was transporting to an animal shelter were killed when a small plane crashed in the snowy woods of the Catskill Mountains.
