SWAC West champion Southern will visit SWAC East champion Jackson State with a conference title and a Celebration Bowl berth on the line.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Nearly three months after Southern suffered a 33-15 defeat to Jackson State, the rematch is set. This time the SWAC Championship will be on the line. Southern has lost the last five matchups against their most hated rival. On Saturday, they get another shot with the conference and Celebration Bowl berth on the line.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2024 Football Postseason All-SWAC selections on Tuesday morning. The all-conference teams were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

If Southern coach Terrence Graves ever needed validation for his coaching abilities, the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference team voting process provided it Tuesday.

The Southern Jaguars are scheduled to play the Jackson State Tigers in the SWAC Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Starting JSU quarterback and Canton native Jacobian Morgan, offensive lineman Evan Henry, and offensive lineman Kirk Ford Jr. were named to the All-SWAC Second Team Offense, with kicker Gerardo Baeza and punter Matt Noll tabbed All-SWAC Second Team Special Teams. Six Alcorn State football players received All-SWAC honors.

Jackson State football head coach T.C. Taylor has been named SWAC Coach of the Year. RB Irv Mulligan has been named SWAC Offensive Player of the Year RB Travis Terrell JR. has been named SWAC Freshman

After Grambling, Jackson State is the team Southern fans most want to beat. The same goes for the Tigers when they are done with Alcorn State.
