The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season officially ends today, Saturday, Nov. 30. While there weren't as many storms as originally predicted before the season began, that doesn't mean impacts from the storms that hit Florida and the United States won't be felt for years.

The Florida landfalls of Cat 4 Helene and Cat 3 Milton gave the U.S. a record-tying fifth consecutive year with a major hurricane landfall.

This is the last week of a truly shitty Atlantic hurricane season. It was record-breaking. People are still recovering. Misinformation managed to make things even worse. Now, we get a six-month-ish break before it starts over again — perhaps with fewer federal resources to respond in the US.
