Soccer’s biggest ever global club tournament is coming to the United States next year and the 32-team group stage will be drawn Thursday.

Real Madrid also know that they cannot play another Spanish team - in this case Atlético Madrid - in the group stage. As with Champions League rules, teams from the same country cannot be drawn into the same group. Therefore, a Madrid derby in the Club World Cup would only be possible in the knockout stages.

All 32 sides have now qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup after Brazilian outfit Botafogo secured their place by winning the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their 123-year history. They are one of six CONMEBOL sides that will join the 12 UEFA clubs.
