Texas Tech announces firing of DC Tim DeRuyter, secondary coach Marcel Yates
The program announced the firing of defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter and defensive pass game coordinator/secondary coach Marcel Yates on Sunday. Joey McGuire originally hired DeRuyter, 61, when he took the Texas Tech job ahead of the 2022 season.
Shiel Wood chopped nine points per game off Houston's scoring average in his first season running the Cougars' defense.
