The idea that Earth has only one moon is considered to be true, but that isn't always the case. In fact, sometimes, it's had more moons than you'd expect.

Earth will say goodbye to an asteroid that has acted as a mini moon for the past two months. But astronomers say it will return again soon.

For about two months, Earth had a temporary second moon from an asteroid that scientists believe originated from our only Moon.

Astronomers used the Two-meter Twin Telescope to catch a "see-you-soon" image of the asteroid 2024 PT5 as it ended its stint as Earth's second moon on Monday (Nov. 25).
