Lithuania has found no sign that the crash on Monday of a DHL cargo plane was caused by sabotage, and believes technical issues were a more likely explanation, officials said on Wednesday.

Lithuania is leaning towards a technical cause for the crash on Monday of a DHL cargo plane as it came in to land at Vilnius airport, the country's National Crisis Management Center said on Wednesday.

Recovery work continued on Thursday after the crash of a cargo plane earlier this week in Lithuania. Emergency services continued to collect the wreckage of the Swiftair aircraft, which was travelling from the eastern German city of Leipzig to the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on behalf of logistics company DHL.

His statement follows earlier incidents, reported by The Wall Street Journal, at DHL logistics hubs in Leipzig and Birmingham, involving unconventional incendiary devices, which were linked to broader Russian sabotage efforts.
