Delhi’s air quality index improved from ’very poor’ to ’poor’ on Monday, but it remains the most polluted city in India. Other cities like Gurgaon and Ghaziabad also recorded high pollution levels due to factors like stubble burning and vehicular emissions.

AM IST A thick layer of smog enveloped Delhi on Sunday morning as the city's air quality deteriorated to the 'very poor' category. The city's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 366 at 7 am on Sunday while it was 412 at 4 pm on Saturday.

The AQI in Anand Vihar was recorded as 457; the AQI in Ashok Vihar was 455; Chandni Chowk's AQI was 439 and RK Puram recorded an AQI of 421.

With the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reading 422 at 6 AM on Saturday, Delhi was once again engulfed in a dense layer of poisonous haze as the air quality fell into the "Severe" category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB),
