Whooping cough cases on the rise in Ontario County
CANANDAIGUA, NY — The Ontario County Health Department is reporting an increase in the number of whooping cough cases in the county. As of Nov. 25, most of the cases reported have been in college-aged students, but Public Health Director Kate Ott said it is concerning there has been such an increase since 2023.
A school-wide letter was sent to families as they continue monitoring the disease in Chicago schools and communities.
Cases have jumped from 110 during all of 2023 to more than 1,163 cases so far this year, the state health department said.
