The Summit Carbon Solutions project would pipe liquid carbon dioxide from ethanol plants in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota to sequester it deep underground near Bismarck.

With Minnesota signing off on Ames-based Summit Carbon Solutions' proposed pipeline, it now only needs approval from South Dakota.

The decision by the Minnesota PUC follows the approval of Summit Carbon Solutions’ pipeline permits in Iowa and North Dakota. The company recently refiled its South Dakota permit application.
