Reports of outages soared starting around 12:30 p.m. EST, with more than 100,000 Facebook users reporting their problems on DownDetector by around 1:20 p.m. EST. Tens of thousands of Instagram users also reported problems, while there was a similar spike for WhatsApp and Threads.

Facebook is down and users are reporting outages to downdetector, the site that reports problems with popular websites. The Facebook spike started shortly after 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The biggest problem occured on the mobile app, where 57% of the problems were reported. The site had another 33% of the problems. And it was happening all over.
