Palace aides have described Camilla as “very sad indeed” following the loss of her beloved pet, who had to be put down due to the tumor. Queen Camilla adopted the Jack Russell terrier in 2011 when Beth was just three months old.

Alongside a photo of the queen with her beloved rescue puppy, Beth, the family announced her death. “A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home,” the statement began. According to People, Beth had an untreatable tumor, which resulted in her death.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have plans to expand their family at Buckingham Palace. As the British monarch made a solo appearance on Friday, Nov. 22 at this year’s Royal Variety Performance amidst his wife’s lingering health issues, he casually mentioned that he and Camilla are planning on getting a new dog, per Express.co.uk.
