Sundance Head, the musician who won Season 11 of “The Voice,” shed new light on last week's shooting accident in which he was hit by a bullet from his own gun — and how he was convinced he was going to die.

Sundance Head is speaking out for the first time since he accidentally shot himself at his rural Texas ranch, saying he was sure he "was going to die."

Texas-bred singer Sundance Head lived a dream come true after winning The Voice back in 2016. But over the weekend, the country music star lived through a real-life nightmare after accidentally shooting himself.

Sundance Head sat in front of a camera and updated fans for the first time since an accidental shooting nearly left him for dead.

"It was one of the craziest things that's ever happened to me," the singer-songwriter, 46, said in a selfie video shared to Facebook

The 46-year-old Houston native – whose name is Jason Head – was putting a gun away at his ranch when it "slipped out of the holster, hit the side of the jeep and discharged into his stomach area," his publicist said.

I was shot accidentally in the stomach. I was alone," he remembered. "I was sure that I was going to die. It was one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to me." He was packing his car while his pistol sat on the passenger seat in a quick draw holster with no strap to keep it inside.
