With a dismal box office outlook, “Kraven the Hunter” may add to Sony’s list of Spider-Man spinoffs that failed to capture audiences, including “Madame Web” and “Morbius.”

While Venom was relatively successful for Sony Pictures, movies like Morbius and Madame Web have caused the company to kill off its plans for the universe.

Sony is reportedly giving up on its Spider-Man universe, which includes universally panned films such as Venom and Morbius, as Kraven the Hunter is projected for a worse opening weekend than the disastrous Madame Web.

Kraven is in fact terrible, at least according to the early reviews in that put it at a 14% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in Sony's "Kraven the Hunter," yet another failed attempt at making Marvel comic book movies.

In retrospect, 2024 could have been the year for Sony's Spider-Man Universe (an accepted moniker despite the fact that the beloved wall-crawler never actually appears in any of the films). With the Marvel Cinematic Universe releasing only one blockbuster due to the Hollywood labor battles in 2023,

Kraven the Hunter is a dull, cringeworthy entry into a shared Spider-Man universe concept that seemed doomed to failure from the start.
