Facebook is down and users are reporting outages to downdetector, the site that reports problems with popular websites. The Facebook spike started shortly after 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The biggest problem occured on the mobile app, where 57% of the problems were reported. The site had another 33% of the problems. And it was happening all over.

Several Facebook and Instagram users are reporting problems with the social media platform amidst a possible Meta outage.

For many staffers at The Verge, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads aren’t loading right now and are showing error messages when you try to load them. Reports across Bluesky, X, and Reddit show that many people see the same thing.
