Hamas released a propaganda video Saturday showing the 20-year-old Alexander alive, marking his first proof of life since being kidnapped.

Edan Alexander grew up in New Jersey and was a soldier in the Israeli military when Hamas militants attacked on the morning of Oct. 7, 2023.

Netanyahu's office later confirmed the conversation, reiterating that Israel remains resolute in its determination to bring back all hostages. Describing the video as "cruel psychological warfare," the Prime Minister said that such tactics would not deter Israel from its mission.

The White House condemned the video footage reportedly released by Hamas, and called it “a cruel reminder of Hamas’s terror against citizens of multiple countries, including our own”.
