Genesis has officially announced its involvement in motorsports, together with the unveiling of the new GMR-001 Hypercar, designed for the LMDh class. The new Genesis Magma Racing team will compete at the WEC and IMSA championships starting in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

The Oreca-based prototype will run in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026, and join IMSA GTP in 2027.

Genesis has taken the wraps off its GMR-001 Hypercar that will make its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026. The luxury Korean automaker, which revealed the Oreca-chassied LMDh prototype on Wednesday in a launch event in Dubai, will also compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship but instead beginning in 2027.

French racing team IDEC Sport will also support Genesis Magma Racing. The partnership will begin as early as next year with an LMP2 entry in the European Le Mans Series. America's Logan Sargeant, who was recently dropped from the Williams F1 team, will be one of the drivers, alongside Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert.

Genesis isn’t renowned for its motorsport exploits – but it’s taken a step into the big league by revealing its contender for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and Le Mans in the shape of the new GMR-001.
