In an opinion column in The Wall Street Journal, the heads of the new Department of Government Efficiency said taxpayers shouldn’t pay federal employees “for the Covid-era privilege of staying home.”

Incoming Trump administration advisers Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy floated ending remote work for federal workers, calling it a “privilege” left over from the pandemic.

The two entrepreneurs, tasked by President-elect Donald Trump last week to lead the newly formed “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), suggested in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that
