SMU enters the last week of its regular season with some security, having already clinched a spot in the ACC championship game in Charlotte, N.C. on Dec. 7. The Mustangs became the first former Group of Five team to clinch a spot in a power-conference title game in their first year in the new conference.

During halftime of Saturday’s football game between Clemson and The Citadel, the head referee approached Bulldogs coach Maurice Drayton and made him an offer. Clemson was leading The Citadel 35-0 at Memorial Stadium, and there was an option to shorten the game by cutting the remaining two quarters to 10 minutes.

Clemson football's ACC championship hopes took a hit when it was upset by Louisville at home on Nov. 2. But the 16th-ranked Tigers' chances of playing for a conference title in Charlotte aren't extinguished yet.
