A 44-year-old man died Friday after an apparent fall while hiking in an icy area of the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

The body of a Littleton man was found in Franconia after he did not report back from a hike, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department confirmed on Saturday. Conservation officers said they were alerted on Friday evening to an overdue hiker in the Coppermine Trail area after 44-year-old Christopher Huyler had gone out to check conditions of a ski glade.

Christopher Huyler’s body was found around 1 a.m. at approximately 2,800 feet in elevation, near a steep, icy slide in the Coppermine Brook valley, officials said.
